Maps and sleeves

Thursday August 14, 2008

Ever the diligent planner, I have been casually shopping around for some new travel friendly clothes for an upcoming fall trip. I do not understand the 3/4 sleeve. It is the sleeve with commitment issues. Surely, those mere inches of coverage aren’t serving any real purpose and a short sleeve would certainly suffice. If it is cool enough out to require a longer sleeve, why not have one with some integrity.

I have heard people describe the 3/4 sleeve as flattering. I guess. I suppose I can tolerate this phenomena in a t-shirt, but finding the cutest lightweight twill jacket with 3/4 sleeves is intolerable. If I want a jacket, why wouldn’t I want the whole sleeve.

In other travel planning news, I am not thrilled with the recent Google Map update. It runs slower. At first I thought it was just a Safari issue (everyone discriminates against Safari), but same deal in Firefox.

Also, I miss having two separate input boxes when searching for businesses near a specific address (i.e., I am going to the bank where is the nearest coffee shop). I know the super search box is all minimalist fantastic, but I find it less intuitive. I do like the addition of the walking directions with travel time so I’ll just pipe down.
